The Petition
The text of the petition follows:
“Since 2017, this embarrassing eyesore has been prominent on a main artery in our beautiful community. It’s held hostage to much-needed fuel services required by 12,700 residents, various businesses and hundreds of daily tourists utilizing the COHO Ferry!
James Bay is the only community in the City without a gas station and this is not acceptable! According to Google, the closest station is 2.1 kms away in Vic West across the Johnson Street Bridge.
The absent landlord who resides in Hong Kong completes only minimal intermittent construction to avoid the City bylaw loophole on construction completion limits. This needs to change!
This problem has been discussed with the City of Victoria Council for years with no resolution.
We need the Council to change the status of this derelict site by directing the owner to complete or sell the property within a foreseeable deadline.”
